Lib Dems Take the Lead in Camden

With 24 councillors, the Lib Dems are the largest group on Camden Council. The winning team in May 2006 is seen here on the steps of Camden Town Hall.

Camden Liberal Democrats emerged as the largest party after the May 2006 council elections. The Lib Dems gained 13 seats - including 3 from the Conservatives - to bring an end to 35 years of Labour control of the town hall.

Lib Dems have since won a further seat from the Conservatives in the September 2008 Hampstead by-election and two from Labour in by-elections in Haverstock in 2007 and Kentish Town in 2006.
